Here are some tips to remember if you're going to take your first dance class.
Wear fitted dancewear
If you've ever watched videos of dance classes online or seen professional dancers perform, you probably noticed that most or all of the dancers were wearing fitted clothing. This is something that you should do when you go to your own upcoming dance class. Whilst you may have assumed that these dancers wore these fitted garments to simply show off their fantastic figures whilst they danced, the truth is that wearing fitted outfits can not only help a person to do their dance moves better but also make their performances look more impressive.
For example, if you wear a long, oversized T-shirt that hides your abdomen, your upper arms and your hips, you won't know if these body parts are at the angle they're supposed to be at when you're doing specific dance moves, even if you're watching yourself in the dance studio's mirror. If, however, you wear a fitted top, you'll know immediately, when you look in the mirror, whether the angle of your body parts is correct. Additionally, if you wear oversized clothing and end up doing any performances with the other dance-class participants, it will be impossible for the audience to tell if your body is moving exactly in sync with the other dancers and this might make the performance less impressive.
Try to find a spot fairly close to the front of the class
If you don't know anything about dancing, then you might feel inclined to pick a spot at the very back of the dance class so that fewer people will see you if you struggle to follow the teacher's movements or if you stumble. However, it's best to be brave and go as close to the front as you can. If the dance class is a popular one that results in the studio being packed to capacity, and you stand at the very back, there may be moments when you cannot see all of the teacher's body when they're demonstrating a specific move. For an experienced dancer, this wouldn't be a problem, as they would recognise the name of that move that the teacher mentions before doing the demonstration and will probably already know how to do it. However, if you don't know the names of any dance moves, you'll need to be close enough to be able to see the teacher so that you can copy their actions.
